6:50-7:50 pm The All Canadian Karate Union (ACKU) offers traditional Japanese karate for individuals and families in Calgary, DeWinton/Okotoks, Strathmore, British Columbia and Saskatchewan. Our home dojo (training facility) is in British Columbia.
Through the disciplined practice of ACKU karate, we develop physically, emotionally and mentally. We believe martial arts are not exclusive to one group, country, religion, culture or nationality. We do not bow, kneel or worship to any person, foreign flag, image or deity. We are proud Canadians!
ACKU students are welcome to train at any club anytime, all for one affordable monthly fee.
ACKU teaches authentic Shotokan karate using strong, deep stances, with equal focus on hand and leg work. The ACKU system is easy for everyone to learn, including children.
Special shorter “Chops” classes are available for children aged 4-6 years. Children learn karate skills in a fun, relaxed atmosphere, taught by Sensei Julie Bray, B. Ed.
We study Nunchaku, Sai, Jo, Bo, Tonfa, Kama and Bokken.
We offer advanced classes through the Union plus two large tournaments each year.
Every third week in July we travel to Tofino, BC for our annual Tofino Karate Camp and practice karate on beautiful Wickaninnish Beach!
Drop into the Ranch Centre any Wednesday and try a free class.
